Hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells take the route through the bone marrow endothelium
Bone marrow endothelium plays an important role in the homing of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPC) upon transplantation. Irradiation promotes vascular permeability as a consequence of temporal loss of vascular endothelial-cadherin function. This enhances homing of HSPC to the bone marrow.

Eltrombopag monotherapy can improve hematopoiesis in patients with low to intermediate risk-1 myelodysplastic syndrome
This phase II dose modification study investigated the safety and efficacy of eltrombopag in 30 patients with low risk myelodysplastic syndromes. Forty-four perecent of patients responded, 20% and 24% had uni- or bi-lineage hematologic responses, respectively. Three patients developed reversible grade 3 liver toxicity and one patient had increased reticulin fibrosis.

Treatment of patients with MYC rearrangement positive large B-cell lymphoma with R-CHOP plus lenalidomide: results of a multicenter HOVON phase II trial
This prospective trial investigated 85 newly diagnosed patients with MYC-rearrangement positive large B-cell lymphoma. R-CHOP plus lenalidomide was safe, and yielded comparable survival rates and complete metabolic response on PET-CT scan as in studies applying more intensive chemotherapy regimens.

Functional plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 is retained on the activated platelet membrane following platelet activation
The primary reservoir of circulating PAI-1 resides within platelet α-granules. Platelet activation results in translocation of PAI-1 to the outer leaflet of the membrane. Platelet-associated PAI-1 is functionally active and maintains thrombus integrity.
